Lunch

Students have the option to either bring their lunch or purchase a school lunch. At the beginning of the day, students who are buying make their lunch choice by moving a magnet to the lunch that they would like. I then input the numbers into a spreadsheet so that the cafeteria can make the appropriate amount of each meal. There are typically 4 food options, each has a meat or vegetarian choice. If you choose to purchase a school lunch, you have two payment options. You can pay by CASH or CHECK. Checks should be made out to RRISD Lunch Fund and your driver's license number must be written at the top. Your child will have a card that they use like a debit card. You can also pay online. For more information regarding online payments click here. Lunch menus are sent out at the beginning of each month and can also be found online.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS TARDY?
We will not be able to order a specific lunch choice for them. The student will still be able to purchase a lunch, but they will not be able to choose which tray. They will be given whatever the cafeteria has extra on that day.

Snack

Students may bring a healthy snack to school each day. Snacks should be easy-to-eat finger foods (like carrot sticks, crackers, pretzels, granola bar). Please do not send any snacks that are sticky, messy, (such as Cheetos) or require a spoon. We are often working or reading during snack time, and I do not want their notebooks or classroom library books to be damaged.

Water Bottles
Students should bring a spill proof water bottle to school each day. To prevent them from getting lost, water bottles should be labeled with your child's name. Water Bottles should contain water only (no milk, Kool-Aid, etc.).

Birthdays

When it is your child’s birthday, they will be allowed to bring a treat bag or special snack for each child in the class.
Acceptable food items are cookies or individual snacks that aren't messy.
Prefer packaged/purchased items only, for example packaged cookies, crackers or popcorn. Parents must also send paper goods if needed. Each teacher will determine the appropriate time of day for birthday treats to be shared. Also, it is much easier if all of the treats are the same so there isn't any arguing or hurt feelings. Please do not send cupcakes or cake as these are too messy and may stain the carpet if consumed in the classroom. It is much easier for me to pass out if it is something like cookies that are all the same.

  • Please do not send flowers, balloons, decorations, or birthday gifts for your child to school.

  • Students are allowed to distribute private birthday party invitations at school if all students in the class are included

  • Many of our students have food allergies or restrictions, so parents must give the teachers advance notice if they intend to bring food items to be shared with the class
