I apologize for completely spacing on taking pictures! We had a very busy and productive week, nonetheless!
Writing- We examined our mentor sentence, wrote letters to pen pals at Doss elementary, and brainstormed some ideas for writing poetry
Reading- Summarizing, character change, and our began our unit on poetry by reading through a bunch of different poetry books!
Math- Learned about strip diagrams by using interactive thinking blocks and ordered 4 digit numbers on number lines. We reviewed for the unit 1 and 2 DCA on Friday.
Science- Finished up our unit on mixtures by doing mixtures stations and taking the DCA test.
Social studies- Legislative branch simulation- we divided up into the house of representatives, senate, president, and cabinet members. I presented them with bills and the house and senate discussed and voted on whether they wanted to pass or veto. They loved it!

Coming up next for our short week:
Writing- More with writing all different types of poems, First up, free verse poems
Reading- Paired with writing, we will read all different types of poems and examine the different elements of poetry.
Math- Start unit on multiplication
Science- Start unit on forms of energy
Social studies- Judicial branch, The Story of Ruby Bridges, and Good citizenship
