Writing- Students wrote 3 poems this week and focused on descriptive language and sound words.

Reading- We read narrative, humorous, and free verse poems.

Math- Started our unit on multiplication with arrays (equal groups). Students did some noticing and wondering with real life arrays and today we looked at relationships in tables.

Science- Forms of energy. We focused on sound by creating kazoos out of straws and noticing how the sound changed when the straw was cut. We did another cool demo with water glasses filled with different amounts of water, which turned into musical instruments!

Social studies- Finished up our unit of study on government.

ESLOT- Visited our kinder buddies and made goofy pumpkins!

What’s coming up:

Writing and reading- Continue with poetry. We will focus on lyrical poems and stanzas.

Math- More with multiplication. We will look at some different strategies for multiplying.

Science- We will explore light energy by doing an experiment with flashlights, explore heat energy by doing a “smore cook off” of sorts.

Social studies- We will begin discussing real life heroes and historical figures.
